TEENAGERS keen to cut a dash at their school prom have been planning for the big occasion for several months, according to local fashion retailer Sue Ashen.
Her independent family-run Hot Bods Fashion Boutique at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City sells an array of gowns sourced from Australia and the UK.
Sue said girls determined to make a lasting impression had been buying school ball attire since last October.
“The prom frocks we buy in from England, many of them one-offs, are popular because girls want to look special and they know that no-one else will be wearing the same dress,” she said. “Some of the styles sell out within an hour of us putting them in the window.”
Although the shop always sells a mix of colours, Sue said yellow and purple were particularly in demand this season.
“The Grecian goddess style has also been very popular in white,” she said. “Girls in the UK tend to like the full-on prom dresses where Australian girls go for something a bit more slinky.
“The full-length dresses are definitely the most popular choice for |the school proms, but occasionally we will get a girl who dares to be different.”
Hot Bods also stocks a selection of special occasion accessories including masks from Italy for those wanting head-to-toe glamour.
