THOUGH the V8 Supercars may not be making an appearance at Barbagallo Raceway this year, all is not lost for motor racing fans.

The WA Sporting Car Club gets stuck into the 2010 racing season with the second of the Smarter Than Smoking Night Masters at the raceway this Saturday.

For only the second time since night racing started at the raceway in 1991, racing will be on the long circuit with a record entry of more than 140 cars covering eight categories, from Formula Vees to Saloon Cars.

The popular saloon cars return for this meeting, with the Commodore-Falcon category broken into two fields of cars, with the Falcon AU-Holden VT and the Falcon EA-Holden VN doing battle.

Nathan Callaghan, AU-VT class state champion, will lead the Commodore battle with 2008 Champion Dion Panizza, Grant Johnson and Brett Stewart against the ever-improving Falcons of the Tremeer trio of Jason, Craig and Colin, along with Rick Gill.

Entry is $10 and free for children under 14.

I see this as a matter of access and inclusion.
W.A is being excluded....

As the V8's have chosen to usurp Western Australia.
We should take some form of protest action on a state level.
It's not just the V8's but they are indicative of a larger problem.
Many major concerts dodge W.A as well.

I propose: Any Gas, Steel, Oil, or grain exports which the Eastern States cannot live without we place an exclusion tax upon.
Purchasing states then fund “INCLUSION” of Western Australia in Australian events.

Why should the Eastern States have all the fun?
W.A is the reason for their prosperity. If it weren't for W.A's mineral wealth and produce they'd be stuck quite deeply in recession.

Raceing is raceing, what a shame we won't have to put up with all the extra pink noise from the V8's too.

Racing just won't be the same. V8's are a class of its own. The professionalism and star quality just won't be there. They've lost me!
